The (wo)man behind the WOK

Hi! My name is Jessica. I am the creator and proud owner of Wok n’ Roll Food Trailer!

A little bit about me:
I am a first-generation Laotian-American. I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho; currently residing in Boise with my husband and two boys and managing my family’s restaurant. I basically grew up in the restaurant. My father has been a chef/owner of Thai restaurants for as long as I can remember. My aunt tells me that when I was a kid and she lived out of the country, she would call to check in with the family and I would always take her “food order” for the restaurant. It was inevitable that I would end up in the family biz.

Fast-forward to 2020:
I now have about 15 years of restaurant experience, working every position possible. I’ve had the opportunity to learn the ropes in the kitchen training under my dad.. and have discovered my passion for cooking and sharing my love of food with people. I love taking care of the family biz and doing my part to keep my family’s legacy intact, but I have been itching to create a platform for me to share my love of food and unique creations with people. And so Wok N’ Roll was born...

My vision for Wok N’ Roll is to create a community of foodies who love trying new & diverse foods. Thai food has come along way as far as recognition and acceptance but there is still so much about Asian food that is yet to be explored/accepted, especially in a smaller town like ours. We want to be able to reach more people by going to where the people are, something we are limited by with a brick & mortar. My goal is to create our own brand associated with bold flavors, adventurous blends, out of the box ideas, and just being different and unique. I plan to use my platform to support local businesses and small business people, as that is something close to my heart. The aim of Wok N' Roll will be to build a community of people who work hard and pursue their passions but don’t take themselves too seriously.

UPDATE

As we begin to dive into 2022, I am ECSTATIC to share that we are taking our business to the next level by taking our truck food to the new WAREHOUSE FOOD HALL coming to downtown Boise spring ‘22. I never envisioned my food fitting into the traditional brick & mortar business but when I learned about this new concept making its way into Idaho, I knew we would fit in perfectly.
